The narrative project has started
Anjara Project » Devlog
Hello,
In this project, my focus was to have a working system to tell a story and to showcase my art skills.
I went for Unreal Engine for many reasons but the main two reasons are:
- Blueprints are really easy to use and they are all over the engine, giving a lot of freedom;
- Unreal can be used for many things and popular manga artists are using it in their works so I am planning to add it to my process as well.
To give you an idea of how much time I spent on it, I started this project just after the end of the Global Game Jam 2025 on **January 26th, 2025**. I refactored some of my old art and made a few new ones for this project. There is no Art direction yet, I am just doing whatever I want.
Known issues:
- On level load, the level appears a little between the transition (I am exploring ideas on how to solve this with maybe level streaming or another thing in C++ that unreal themselves made);
- The dialogue progression with the NPCs are not saved yet;
- The Buffs are still up when going back to the title screen and the level (This is on purpose for testing);
- There is an artifact on all actors when moving the camera around kinda fast.
I am hoping I can get this project to a full game at some point.
Thanks for reading!
